They say it’s important, if you want to grow a podcast, to have a theme. And also for that theme to be something most people like. So Sarah and I put our heads together and thought long and hard, finally landing on…. boobs.
There’s a serious point here, jokes aside: This week there was a proper culture war bunfight about whether the HSE should be funding conferences that encourage men to take chemicals allowing them to produce breast milk - either for children or for their own sexual pleasure (“check their hard drives”, says Sarah).
And then in the wider culture, there’s the bigger question of whether “boobs are back”, as Sarah wrote earlier this week, or whether we must all pretend to be oblivious to our own natures.
In less prurient content, the Government announced bumper revenues this week, and bumper spending - but even that spending is not enough for Una Mullally in the Irish Times who wants Government to give us more “nice things”, or for the Labour Party which wants to give us all a hundred quid a month to help with shopping.
Oh, and the EU wants to regulate AI. And Reddit. And something called Roblox.
All of that, this week, and the bigger question for you listeners: What do you want us to do with this podcast moving forwards? We’re always hesitant to ask for money, but we’re also blown away by the response to our show and eager to grow it and do some good for the country if we can. You can find our polls on that question on Youtube, or Spotify. Or, if you have ideas, just leave them in the comments.
